Visual Literacy

Here's an apt first entry for VizLit-  A design firm's visual rebranding of the idea of teaching.  As they note, how tired is the apple image, anyway?  And while the connotations of affection and respect continue to hold power and suggest strong teacher/student relationships, it says nothing about the act of learning or the process of schooling.  This version tries to make much of 'connecting the dots', perhaps too much, but linking education and design feels like a great first step here.

  1. John - I might disagree with the comment that the apple says nothing about the act of learning. If it is connected to the Biblical symbol of Adam and Eve eating an apple from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, it is a powerful symbol of education. Once you bite, you can't unlearn what you have ingested.

Not sure modern educators would caution against education -- we seem to be more of a "take it to the edge of what's been done and leap" or "jump in" breed... but that is another debate.

Love the assignment, though. Today's education is certainly not simple to brand... an exciting challenge.
